In a landmark move, Andhra Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena Party leader Pawan Kalyan announced the formation of a new party wing, the *Narasimha Varahi Brigade*, dedicated to protecting Sanatana Dharma and addressing recent controversies impacting Hindu traditions. Kalyan emphasized the need to preserve ancient faiths in the face of modern challenges, a commitment underscored by his recent calls for strong protective measures.
In his speech, Kalyan highlighted the purpose of the Brigade, which he described as a “dedicated force” within Janasena aimed at countering disparaging narratives surrounding Sanatana Dharma. “While I respect every religion, I am deeply rooted in my faith. Those who spread misinformation or disrespect Sanatana Dharma—whether online or in public—will face the consequences,” he stated. This initiative follows recent debates surrounding the Tirupati temple’s famed ladoo prasadam, which was allegedly prepared with adulterated ghee, sparking outrage among devotees and calling attention to religious integrity.
Kalyan has consistently advocated for a comprehensive national policy to protect Sanatana Dharma. During the recent Varahi Declaration event in Tirupati, he proposed legislation for a “Sanatana Dharma Protection Act,” emphasizing the need for a unified approach across the country. “We need a robust law that enforces respect for Sanatana Dharma’s values and traditions across Bharat,” Kalyan asserted, stressing the necessity of nationwide coherence on religious matters.
Alongside this proposed legislation, Kalyan outlined his vision for a *Sanatana Dharma Protection Board* at both national and state levels. This body, he explained, would be responsible for overseeing the act’s implementation, managing resources, and ensuring temple sanctity. A Sanatana Dharma Certification for materials used in temple offerings and prasadam preparation was another innovative step he suggested, aimed at maintaining religious purity and standards.
Reflecting on his personal ties to the faith, Kalyan spoke about his long-standing commitment to the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in Jaganathapuram, a sacred site he has supported since 2009. He recently pledged ₹4.5 crore for the temple’s enhancement, promising the construction of a protective wall and other facilities. “Temples are not only places of worship but the soul of our tradition. I am committed to their safety and sanctity,” he declared, vowing an inquiry into alleged unauthorized excavations around the temple site.
The Narasimha Varahi Brigade, Kalyan explained, represents more than a political statement; it is a response to his followers’ appeals for action. “This Brigade will work on the frontlines to safeguard our Dharma from any malicious attempts to undermine it,” he concluded, reaffirming Janasena’s mission to uphold Sanatana Dharma and preserve its cultural heritage.
